about viki reiki
What is Reiki?
Powerful energy healing
Reiki is one of the most popular energy healing systems in the world. It is a subset of alternative medicine – a Japanese form of energy healing that is now used in many hospitals, and even recommended to reduce the side effects of cancer treatments.
It is subtle and gentle, yet powerful.
Practitioners use a technique called palm healing, through which universal energy is transferred as the cells of your body pull the energy needed through the palms of the practitioner in order to encourage emotional or physical healing.
Reiki is harmless and cannot hurt anyone; it does not destroy but instead builds and protects. It will vitalise all forms of life: plants, animals, fish, fowl, and humans from infancy to old age. It can only do good.
It originated from Japan at the turn of the 20th century by Mikao Usui. The word Reiki (pronounced ‘ray-key’) can be split into two components, ‘Rei’, meaning ‘Universal’ and ‘Ki’ (Qi Chi), meaning ‘life force energy’. This is energy of the highest and purest form, the very essence that supports and sustains life.
I am a certified Reiki Master/Teacher holistic healing practitioner with both Usui Shiki Ryoho (Western style Reiki) and Usui Reiki Ryoho (Eastern style Reiki) lineages.

How does Reiki feel?
Reiki is very individual to each practitioner and each patient.
When receiving reiki energy you will feel relaxed and calm. You might also experience:
- Warmth coming from the practitioner’s hands (even when having remote reiki!)
- A tingling, pulsating or wave of magnetic sensation in your body as the reiki moves through you.
- Twitches, sudden memories, visions, tears, cold spells, or emotional swells. If this happens, try to surrendered to the feelings.

Balances your seven Chakras
What are chakras?
In Sanskrit, the word “chakra” means “disk” or “wheel” and refers to the energy centers in your body. These wheels or disks of spinning energy each correspond to certain nerve bundles and major organs.
To function at their best, your chakras need to stay open, or balanced. If they get blocked, you may experience physical or emotional symptoms related to a particular chakra.
There are seven main chakras that run along your spine. They start at the root, or base, of your spine and extend to the crown of your head.
The Seven Chakras
Root chakra
The root chakra, or Muladhara, is located at the base of your spine. It provides you with a base or foundation for life, and it helps you feel grounded and able to withstand challenges. Your root chakra is responsible for your sense of security and stability.
Sacral chakra
The sacral chakra, or Svadhisthana, is located just below your belly button. This chakra is responsible for your sexual and creative energy. It’s also linked to how you relate to your emotions as well as the emotions of others.
Solar plexus chakra
The solar plexus chakra, or Manipura, is located in your stomach area. It’s responsible for confidence and self-esteem, as well as helping you feel in control of your life.
Heart chakra
The heart chakra, or Anahata, is located near your heart, in the center of your chest. It comes as no surprise that the heart chakra is all about our ability to love and show compassion.
Throat chakra
The throat chakra, or Vishuddha, is located in your throat. This chakra has to do with our ability to communicate verbally.
Third eye chakra
The third eye chakra, or Ajna, is located between your eyes. You can thank this chakra for a strong gut instinct. That’s because the third eye is responsible for intuition. It’s also linked to imagination.
Crown chakra
The crown chakra, or Sahasrara, is located at the top of your head. Your Sahasrara represents your spiritual connection to yourself, others, and the universe. It also plays a role in your life’s purpose.
My story:
A hand full of health
I used to be confused, unbalanced, negative and depressed.
My health was in tatters.
My relationships were worse.
Then I discovered Reiki.
It was tough at first as I treated myself; I felt so many toxins leaving my body, emotions I had been holding in for years were coming to the surface and I was finally able to recognise them, accept them and let them go.
Reiki helped me to process the negative energy and create new positive change. And thanks to fellow practioners who also gave me distance Reiki healing, within months I had gained clarity.
And more importantly, I felt good about myself!
The real win for me though was discovering that not only did I feel terrific physically, mentally and spiritually, I was able to really make a difference and help people like you. Practicing Reiki makes me feel more alive.
Together, you and I can restore your physical and mental health, returning your body to a more natural place of inner balance and peace. You’re not alone.
